Orion drifted through a field of dying stars, their light fading like embers in the wind. One star, smaller than the rest, flickered weakly. It was barely holding on.
He approached it gently, his trunk extended. "You are still burning," he said.
The star's light pulsed faintly. "I remember the worlds I once warmed. They are gone now. I have nothing left to shine for."
